Choco-Berry Beet Smoothie
Research suggests compounds in beets can lower blood pressure by telling cells in artery walls to “relax”! Beets are packed with all kinds of nutrients like fiber, folate, magnesium, and powerful antioxidants. Try this smoothie as a fun, tasty way to enjoy beets.
Ingredients
1 Medium beet, cooked or raw
1 cup strawberries, fresh or frozen
1/2 Banana
1/2 Avocado
1/4 cup Greek Yogurt
1-2 Tablespoons Unsweetened
Coco powder
Water or juice to desired thinness
Directions:
1. If you'd like to use cooked beets, you can steam or boil your beets for 45 minutes until soft. Once the beets are cooked you can choose to leave the peels on or remove them. Once cooked the peels will slide right off, no knife necessary
2. Add beets, strawberries, banana, avocado, yogurt, and coco powder to blender. It's best to add the coco powder either at the bottom or in the middle. Otherwise it will spray all over the blender and not mix well.
3. Blend on high until well-combined, adding water as necessary to reach desired thickness.
